With increasing class sizes every year, the need for additional student housing at Seattle University is conĀstant. The university added Chardin Residence Hall last year, but it wasn’t enough. The latest project is an apartment-style building on the corner of 12th Avenue and Cherry Street, slated to be completed by Fall 2010.
The 12th and Cherry project is planned to offer space for 245 juniors and seniors, in addition to several apartments for faculty and ground-level retail. The apartments will be fully furnished and contain more up to date amenities than the Archbishop Thomas Murphy Apartments. The student residencĀes will mostly have four bedrooms each, with amenities like floor-to-ceiling windows, washers and dryers in the units and provided furnishing. Students who have seen the plans so far are saying good things.

The force was with The Revelators in this Band War.
Amidst light-sabers and Darth Vader masks, The Revelators rocked its way to a first place finish Friday night against a very competitive lineup of musicians.
This year’s Battle of the Bands, themed after the “Star Wars” movies, had eight student bands battling for a good crowd reaction and a high score from the judges who would later determine who got the grand prize: a $500 Guitar Center gift card. No two bands sounded alike, and the diversity of the battle’s acts–electronic, country, and surf among others, kept the crowd interested and the energy high for the entire show.

Yuksek, a new contender in the electro-house battle
Yuksek is the newest contender in the french-electro-nu disco-house explosion that’s going on right now. While he doesn’t even have a Wikipedia entry about him yet, his music places him with the likes of Daft Punk, Justice, MSTRKRFT, Boyz Noize, and Chromeo. Yuksek brings his own flair to the traditional screaming synth lines and glitchy fuckup beats that we’ve all grown to love so much over the past few years.
